2024 Manufacturer of the Year: Triumph

We decided to shake things up a bit for this year’s MOBOs, and introduce a brand new award that has never been given in the history of the Motorcycle.com Best of Awards: the Manufacturer of the Year.
The criteria for Manufacturer of the Year is a little different than for the other MOBO categories. For this one, we looked at a brand’s entire body of work from the year, and not just one singular motorcycle that really blew our minds. We considered the number of new, or at least, updated motorcycles introduced by a manufacturer this year, plus how well those new bikes were received.
We also looked at the business side of things, factoring in a company’s financial success (or lack thereof, in some fairly notable cases). Success on the track was also considered, but we wanted to put more weight towards motorcycles that will sell in significant volumes.
With that in mind, the first ever Motorcycle.com Manufacturer of the Year Award goes to Triumph.
What impressed us this year was how well-rounded Triumph’s new 2024 bikes were. This year, Triumph gave us a new middleweight sportbike in the Daytona 660, updates to its gargantuan Rocket 3 cruiser, a revamped Scrambler 1200 lineup, revised Tiger 1200 and 900 models, and an impressive one-two punch with its TR 400 platform that has already scooped up Best Value and Best Entry-Level/Lightweight MOBO honors.
Oh, and let’s not forget that Triumph debuted its first ever motocross bike in the TF 250-X. Developed with help from the likes of Ricky Carmichael and Iván Cervantes, the TF 250-X had an impressive debut in the FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship, with Triumph Racing’s Mikkel Haarup finishing fifth overall. Not too bad for a brand new motorcycle.
The sheer breadth of Triumph’s new offerings in 2024 helped give it the nod for Manufacturer of the Year, and so far, 2025 is shaping up to be another big year for the British brand, with a number of models announced. If there was one negative note we can give Triumph, it’s in offering too many special edition models. Nearly every one of its product lines received some sort of special edition model, and at some point, they all stop feeling, well, special.
Honorable Mentions
If we’re solely going by racing success, it’s hard to ignore what Ducati has accomplished in 2024. Jorge Martin won the MotoGP championship, with a Ducati Desmosedici winning 19 of 20 races. Adrián Huertas won the 2024 Supersport World Championship on a Panigale V2, while Ducati riders filled out three of the top five in the Superbike standings. In the showrooms, Ducati brought us a DesertX Rally, a Hypermotard 698 Mono and surprised us all with a Multistrada V4 RS, before topping the year off with a new Panigale V4 that immediately swooped up the Best Sportbike MOBO.
BMW was no slouch either, winning its first World Superbike Championship and introducing its new Best Adventure Motorcycle MOBO-winning R 1300 GS and its broad-shouldered sibling, the R 1300 GS Adventure.
This year also saw CFMOTO making big inroads in the U.S. market, with its Ibex 450 adventure bike and 450SS sportbike both getting strong consideration in a couple of MOBO categories.
All of these accomplishments are worth recognition, especially when lately, we've mostly been hearing news about what manufacturers had been doing wrong.

Warranty is a big issue that hasn’t even been mentioned here
I was privileged to ride the mighty Triumph Tiger Explorer through southern Spain & Morocco in March 2012. Triumph couldn't do enough to help and support us all on the trip. Since then I have also had the privilege of a personal guided tour through their brilliant factory. They deserve every bit of success they are achieving. Down to earth people from the very top down who love what they do, and happen to be damn good at it too!
CFMoto should be kicked out of USA. He ccp is scum . And nothing in China is not connected to the communists. Chinese partner with Mexican cartels to kill thousands and thousand of Americans with fentanyl . It’s disgusting.
