It was only a matter of time

Aprilia has decided to offer a Rally version of its Tuareg 660 after a successful assault garnering first place at the Africa Eco Race in 2023. That said, as we’ve seen with the rise of ADV machinery, folks like Chris Birch, Pol Tarres, and now Jacopo Cerutti can manage to pull off inhuman feats on these big machines. But what does that mean for us? We’d be lying to ourselves if we thought we could do the same with just a suspension and livery change. So, for 2025, what’s Aprilia offering the average ADV Joe or Jill?

The Rally moniker brings the Tuareg a beak (high fender), a beefier skid plate and hand guards, a new chain guide, a 0.8-inch (20 mm) taller seat, taller handlebar, tube-type narrower Ergal wheels, an SC Project exhaust with a Ti silencer, and upgraded Kayaba suspension. In total, the Rally is said to be 11 el bees lighter than the standard model’s 450-pound claimed curb weight. In upgrading the suspension, Aprilia chose to keep the same 9.4 inches of travel, but made the swap from progressive springs to those with a standard rate. A new livery was obligatory.

Across the board, the Tuareg line gets slightly updated styling with two new color options: Tornado Green and Hailstorm White. In addition, the 2025 bike is also Euro 5+ compliant and now features 52 mm throttle bodies, up from the previous 48 mm. A new stator has also been implemented with Aprilia claiming reduced inertia. Other than the aforementioned, the Tuareg remains otherwise unchanged moving into the new model year – not a bad thing for our 2022 Motorcycle of the Year.

Expect both the standard and Rally models to hit dealership floors around May 2025. Pricing will be $12,499 for the base model in either color while the Rally rings up at $14,499.

Would be nice if they made some slight modification to reduce the heat this thing puts off.
