A Golden jubilee for the Gold Wing

Honda celebrates the 50th anniversary of one of its most iconic models with the release of the 2025 Gold Wing and Gold Wing Tour. To mark the occasion, the 2025 Gold Wing models will be available in three 50th Anniversary liveries plus a fourth non-anniversary option.

From left to right, the Gold Wing Tour in Light Silver Metallic, the Gold Wing Tour in Bordeaux Red Metallic, the Gold Wing in Matte Black Metallic, and the Gold Wing Tour Eternal Gold. All but the silver color are considered 50th Anniversary editions.

Anniversary edition versions will have special badging between the seat and tank console, as well as on the Smart Key. “Since 1975” also appears on the start-up screen when the bike is turned on. Anniversary models also come with a package of commemorative gifts including a coffee table book and a tabletop 3D scale model with a 2025 Gold Wing on one side and a 1975 model on the other.

Apart from the colors and some anniversary badging, the main change is removal of the Gold Wing’s native navigation system, leaving Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as the standard map software options. The 1,833cc horizontally-opposed six-cylinder engine also receives an O2 sensor and updated ECU settings to ensure Euro 5+ compliance.

The 2025 Gold Wing models will be available in the same trim options as before. The Gold Wing bagger is available in a choice of a six-speed manual transmission with reverse or a seven-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT) with forward or reverse walking mode. The long-distance touring version will be available in three versions, a manual transmission Gold Wing Tour, a Gold Wing Tour DCT, and a Gold Wing Tour Airbag DCT.

All Gold Wing versions come with four ride modes: Tour, Sport, Econ, and Rain. Each offers a different combination of throttle mapping, combined anti-lock braking system, and Honda Selectable Torque Control (i.e. traction control).

Cruise control, hill start assist are also offered as standard equipment. Electronic settings and infotainment systems are displayed on a seven-inch TFT screen. Other standard features include a tire pressure monitoring system and heated grips. Tour models also come standard with a heated seat. A Home Link System remote garage door control is available as an option.

The chassis is unchanged from the last update introduced for the 2018 model year, with a twin-spar frame, and a single-sided swingarm with drive shaft. The suspension system consists of a double-wishbone front with a Showa shock offering 4.3 inches of travel, while a rear Showa shock with a Pro-Link system offers 4.1 inches of travel. Gold Wing Tour models offer electric damping adjustment for both wheels and preload for the rear wheel, while the bagger model has manually-adjustable rear preload.

Dual six-piston radially-mounted Nissin calipers are matched with 320mm rotors for the front wheel, while a single 316mm rotor and three-piston caliper is employed on the rear. The combined ABS balances braking forces to the front and rear wheels.

The saddlebags hold up to 30 liters for each side, while the trunk on the Tour models adds an additional 61 liters of storage capacity, both unchanged from the previous model year.

The 2025 Honda Gold Wing and Gold Wing Tour models will arrive in showrooms in March. Pricing begins at $25,200 for the bagger and $28,700 for the Tour model.

Looks like wood grain applique from an old Ford Ranch Wagon.

I just went to the Honda website and couldn't quite confirm the wood tone, but I would think so? I did not find the website very user friendly at all. I clicked on the 50 Anniversary model, but I couldn't find the color choices as it chose a color for me. I don't find the Build Your Own with parts loading on the frame very useful and a waste of time. Oh well, I am not planning to buy a touring bike anyways, but I have always liked the Gold Wings.
