The uniform of choice for motojournalists for decades, now in lite form

There’s a reason the Aerostich Roadcrafter is regarded as the motojournalist’s uniform – it just works. If you care about gearing up from head to toe whenever you ride like we do, you’ll also sympathize with the fact that grabbing all your gear and putting them on, one-by-one, can be a little bit of a chore – especially if you’re not going very far. The Roadcrafter is useful for so many reasons. Its ingenious full-zip system allows it to go on over your regular clothing, so not only are you protected, but once you arrive at your destination you’re not stuck looking out of place wearing moto gear. With this, the R-3 version, the Roadcrafter gives up its interior liner in exchange for Gore-Tex waterproofing and lighter weight. Check out just a highlight of the features it has to offer here in this video.

Troy's been riding motorcycles and writing about them since 2006, getting his start at Rider Magazine. From there, he moved to Sport Rider Magazine before finally landing at Motorcycle.com in 2011. A lifelong gearhead who didn't fully immerse himself in motorcycles until his teenage years, Troy's interests have always been in technology, performance, and going fast. Naturally, racing was the perfect avenue to combine all three. Troy has been racing nearly as long as he's been riding and has competed at the AMA national level. He's also won multiple club races throughout the country, culminating in a Utah Sport Bike Association championship in 2011. He has been invited as a guest instructor for the Yamaha Champions Riding School, and when he's not out riding, he's either wrenching on bikes or watching MotoGP.

I have one that’s over 40 years old. Bought it big for cold weather riding. Tough to beat. They will repair them if possible after crashes or just to repair old Velcro. It is a little warm in the summer, but if you’re moving it’s tolerable

Nope. Too heavy, too restrictive, and too expensive. If I can't ride and enjoy it, what's the use? Great gear, but not for me.
